Two days ago it was @bellletstalk campaign. I will be honest and tell you that while I wanted to post something I struggled to get real and raw outside my quiet social media private group settings. β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” At fifteen I was diagnosed with anxiety and an eating disorder that consumed the majority of my teenage years and well into my twenties. β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” Back then it was not talked about. There was shame around weakness. There was misunderstandings around eating issues because the media was only just beginning to discuss this topic as more and more women came forward with their stories. β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” There has been silent times in my life where anxiety is only a mere buzz and there has been times where it is the loud noise as I travel down the rabbit hole. It is an inability to concentrate. It is racing thoughts and too much noise. It is a quick fuse and early morning rising fight or flight. β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”- Over the last few years I have held back my personal story and mission in this industry due to this β€œreal” struggle of mine. I would post something then delete it. The anxiety I felt was too compelling. Being vulnerable while imperative for what I do has been very uncomfortable and continues to be. β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”- My only advice to those of you that know someone that struggles remember it is not about you. Their darkness their inability to see the forest between the trees is not yours to save or judge. If we did treat other humans with mental illness in the same light as we hold physical ailments we might learn that many people suffer in silence unnecessarily. β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” Sadly in the fitness subculture we see many women and men suffering in silence with body dysmorphia orthorexia ED’s depression anxiety chemical dependency and so on. Really unless youre using weight on the lat pulldown that could legitimately lift you out of the seat as you extend your elbows how is that leg pad serving you? β€’β€’β€’ Maybe its right for what youre working on...but maybe you want to use your core more while training your lats too? 😎 Try not using that pad to lock down your legs on the seated pull down unless it makes sense for your specific strength/hypertrophy goals. β€’β€’β€’ You could also try something like this. 1 month ago
