Naked Burrito for lunch 🌯😋🤙🏻 Trying to eat more mindfully at the moment by basically 1. reducing the ridiculous amounts of sugar I ingest on a daily basis and 2. buying less ready prepared food in a bid to save money reduce my consumption and waste production. It’s ok not to be ok. It’s ok to feel negative emotions. It’s ok to be in pain. To feel lost. To feel loneliness. To experience shame or guilt. Your anger is justified. To know regret and sorrow. It’s ok if you don’t feel particularly happy. Perhaps there is no ‘good’ reason for feeling a little ‘blah’. Not everything is sunshine and rainbows. Having a positive attitude does not mean the absence of negative thoughts and feelings. - You’re true feelings don’t have to be suppressed or expressed but just learning to sit with observe and accept whatever you’re going through without attaching a ‘good’ or ‘bad’ label to it can be helpful. There’s no need for the pretence of always happy there’s no shame in not having your shit together. Being honest even if it’s just with yourself about your current state of mind is far more brave and much more necessary for the good of others than hiding under false smiles. We don’t need fake positivity we need courageous truth. - Understanding that it can be unhealthy to attach ourselves to our negative feelings is important too though. Just because we feel a little low from time to time does not necessarily mean we are depressed. Sometimes attaching a label to a fleeting emotional state can cause more harm than good. - Observe that your emotions negative or positive will pass nothing is forever the storm will clear. There is solace to be found in the impermanence of it all. - Of course if you’re feeling bad/low/unhappy the majority of the time that’s definitely something to look into but half the time I think people just don’t know that it’s ok not to always be ok. And if you feel like this you don’t have to shut down talk to someone you trust and feel safe with. Not looking for a solution necessarily your sadness doesn’t need to be solved but as a way to remain open and vulnerable. Slowly slowly still finding new strengths and awareness in my handstand practice play. I don’t teach handstand prep in class because it’s not a technique I’ve mastered yet. I feel I haven’t earned the right to instruct others because I haven’t gained the experiential knowledge or wisdom first hand for myself. To be honest it’s not even something I regularly add into my yoga practice but I do enjoy flipping upside down a couple times a week for a few minutes just to see what’s up ya know? And I’m finding as my practice deepens in other areas this is bringing a new found understanding and connection to my body that I previously hadn’t tapped into which I can now apply during upside down time 🤸🏻‍♂️like I’m finding little pieces of the puzzle and it’s all slowly coming together and starting to make sense.
