I dont think the reality of yesterday has actually sunk in yet... Was it a dream or am I really a marathon runner now?! My legs and feet are telling me thats the case so Ill listen to them! 😂
What an experience! I just cant fully process it right now. You hear stories of how amazing the London marathon is the atmosphere the crowds cheering your name the landmarks the intensity of the race how brutal it is... But nothing can fully prepare you for it all and how much more than that it is! It was like nothing I have ever done in my life and Im so happy I got the chance to fulfill one of my dreams!
The heat was horrendous and combined with the tarmac temperatures was about 27°. People were dropping like flies and I saw some pretty scary stuff out there. But I kept it all steady kept using my gels and sipping water and kept on trucking and was so happy to finish really strong round Birdcage and down the Mall for a 4h39 time.
I cant thank everyone who supported me sent me words of kindness tracked my run donated to my justgiving page enough. It meant so much and I cant fully express that to you all enough. A huge thank you to @lewis.patterson85 @equilynz and @stenvall_interiors @hannastenvall for taking the day to come and cheer me on run around London for me looked after me and helped me in and out of my clothes at the end of it all! 🤣 Im just gutted I missed you all out there on the course! 😘 😘
I think youve probably all gathered what it meant to me to run for @hospice_uk and my reasons behind that. They really made the experience something very special and looked after all of their runners brilliantly through cheer groups round the course a wonderful breakfast escorting everyone to the start to a post-race celebration with massages showers and food and drinks for all. It put the icing on the cake when I finished running to see the fundraising target smashed with donations still coming in. Absolutely overwhelmed by all of your kindness to such an important and wonderful charity. 🤗
And as for running for my dad well I felt him with me cheering me on making me laugh when things got tough and telling me I could do it all the way. ❤️ #londonmarathon2018
