Growing up hunting I have been around guns most of my life.
At a young age it was stressed upon me the importance of safe handling of these tools.
My love for the outdoors and time at the range led me to become a hunter safety instructor where we teach youth how to safely handle firearms as well as bows.
This Love also landed me a job in firearm sales where I helped many individuals pick out their first rifle or handgun for hunting or self protection.
Seeing the news out of South Florida last week saddens me deeply. My condolences go out to the those affected by this horrible act of violence.
As I’m skimming through my social media accounts I’m seeing posts regarding the need for more restrictive gun control.
In my opinion a ban or more common sense gun laws will not help or solve the issue at hand.
In the 1920s the United States passed the 18th Amendment banning the sale and Consumption of Alcohol as an Attempt to solve the problem of Alcoholism.
Shortly thereafter the 21st Amendment was passed to repeal the 18th Amendment because the measure didn’t work. The rise of speakeasies bathroom gin and other factors led the government to back out of its decision.
This is a great example for this topic because alcohol can be dangerous in the wrong hands just as firearms can be.
My proposal is that we don’t further restrict firearms but rather educate others on how to handle them safely.
I also say we use social media to help thwart these threats. If you read something that doesn’t sounds odd or off speak up.
I want to hear your thoughts comment below I’ll respond to each one.
