I already talked about cultural appropriation in the past but Im talking about it again since it has relevance for Halloween.
1. Elements from European cultures are also being used for costumes not just non-white cultures.
2. Most people that come from the culture that is "being appropriated" arent offended. Most cultures are open with sharing their culture with foreigners. If I wear a kimono the people that are more likely to be offended by it are American college students with no Japanese ancestry while an actual Japanese person would take a more positive note of it. The people that virtue signal cultural appropriation have gotten to the point where they will lecture people on their own cultural values.
3. Theres a double standard when it comes to non-whites. If a black person wears a Native American headdress or an Asian person wears a Mexican mariachi outfit no one will be offended. But when whites do it the pc police show up.
4. While the sexy *blank* costumes are annoying the sexualizing of costumes doesnt only apply to costumes based off of any culture let alone non-white cultures. I dont see nurses getting offended by the sexy nurse outfits. #feminazi
