I made a childhood dream come true.
I remember when I was a little girl growing up in a small town in Kansas how badly I wanted something bigger. I remember driving 45 minutes to Wichita every so often to go school clothes shopping or to get something my parents needed. Don’t get me wrong I had an amazing childhood and that little town will always have a place in my heart I just always dreamed of being in the city.
Once I got into high school the dream got bigger and Wichita wasn’t big enough. It was only a few hundred thousand people and my dreams were the real deal. I wanted big and I wanted opportunities.
When I was 20 I randomly moved to ado with an ex boyfriend and moved to a TINY town called Gunnison. I absolutely hated it and I couldn’t wait to escape. My dreams of the city couldn’t escape me and I prayed every night to get to Denver. I wasn’t sure how but I knew I would.
After a few years I met my now husband and I shared with him my dreams of the city. We weren’t sure how we would make it work financially but after college we took a chance packed up our young lives and drove to Denver.
I’ll never forget that day.
So when people ask me how can I live in such a cold place where pot is legal and the homeless have basically taken over the downtown area my answer is simple. Everyday I drive home I see that skyline and I feel like that little girl again who finally made her dreams come true.
Never give up on what you’ve always dreamed of. It might not be today or tomorrow but one day they will come true. ❤️ #iam1stphorm
